  • 1/4 Yard of Fabric (Velvet, Satin or Cotton)
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • 1/4 Inch Elastic or 1/2 Inch Elastic (12″ worth)
  • Large Safety Pin
  • Turning Tool (or can use a large safety pin
  • Iron & Ironing Board
  • Ruler
  • Paper
  • Pen

6.27.20 Satin Midi Skirt Tutorial

This workshop was taught on-line via Zoom on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 am by Alyssa Graves, designer of A. Brook’s Designs. She taught participants how to make a satin midi skirt.

1.19.20 QUILTING WORKSHOP

AAFF hosted its first ever “Introduction to Basic Quilting” Sewing workshop on Sunday, January 19th, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The course was taught by Carolyn King, former costume designer for Depot Theatre in Duluth, MN.

Workshop Topics Included:

  • Basics of How to Use a Sewing Machine
  • How to Measure and Cut Fabric
  • How to Quilt a Simple Hot Pad.

2.9.19 BEGINNERS SEWING WORKSHOP

Richard Cotto, designer of The R Gene, taught a sewing workshop geared towards beginners for the women of the Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese at The Center for Nonprofits in Springdale. In this workshop, Richard taught the skills to start sewing and previewed the next steps to become an intermediate sewer to be taught in a future workshop.
